Welcome
to the homepage of the Dodii Foundation.
We are a non-profit
volunteer organization dedicated to being a defender of dignity
in illness for the hundreds of thousands of people who become
diagnosed with cancer each year. Our efforts extend beyond those who
have cancer because people don’t get cancer, families
do.
Our
mission is simple: the Dodii Foundation is a voluntary
non-profit organization dedicated to providing hope through education,
compassion, and support to the individuals and families touched by
cancer.
The foundation
of our mission rests upon the trustworthy Christian scripture found
in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: praise be to the God and Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort,
who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those
in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God
(NIV)."
The Dodii
Foundation (DF) came into existence in the spring of 1998. The idea
of the foundation was birthed from the difficult experiences of two
individuals in the summer of 1996. Kraig Blair (former chairman) and
my wife, Cindy Plewinski, who is President of Dodii Inc., and of the
Dodii Foundation.
Our foundation
uses many of the Dodii products to show comfort and compassion toward
cancer sufferers, including cancer greeting cards, the Dodii doll
(a handmade and sewn doll), Dodii clothing (cardigans and hats), as
well as helping people learn how to start and run a Dodii support
group in their own church or community.
Our goal
is to help individuals and families cope with cancer through prayer
support, nutritional education, and various services including targeted
financial assistance.
Three objectives
provide focus to our foundation: helping people to reflect
on their experience and better prepare for the tough road that lies
ahead, providing the necessary means of support that enables
a family to be sustained during the process, and lastly, to join with
families that celebrate the victories (both big and small)
in the battle against this dreadful disease.
